Large-scale in vitro production of red blood cells from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells

A scalable protocol for producing red blood cells from adult PBMCs was developed. The G-Rex allowed for massive expansion (3x10^6 fold) of erythroblasts and supported efficient differentiation and enucleation, comparable to standard culture dishes.
